English

The test of English Language for the entrance examination covers ‘General English’ of the 10 + 2 Level. It is designed to test students’ ability to grasp the fundamental concepts in the English language, grammar, and usage. Proficiency in the English language is tested through objective-type multiple-choice questions on grammar (tenses, subject-verb agreement, articles, prepositions, use of question tags, sentence structures, and use of linkers), and vocabulary (synonyms, commonly confused pair of words, one-word substitutions, idioms and phrases, and usage). Students are not required to learn the glossary of complicated grammatical jargon but should have the primary knowledge of word usage, matching of subject and verbs, correct usage of tenses, and grammatically correct sentences acceptable in standard written communication.

The syllabus will include the following areas:
