- A candidate should be ordinarily permitted to continue research for the Ph.D. degree in the subject in which he/she holds a Master’s degree. The candidate’s eligibility will be verified at the time of counseling with original testimonials/documents. For any eventuality at the time of admission candidates will individually be responsible.
- Provided that an M.Com. or M.Sc. (Ag) in Agriculture Economics may be permitted to work for a Ph.D. degree in Economics in the Faculty of Art and an M.A. in Economics may be allowed to work for a Ph.D. Degree in Agriculture Economics in the Faculty of Agriculture. Implemented further that an M.A. or M.Sc. in Mathematics may be permitted to work for a Ph.D. degree in Statistics in the Faculty of Science. Provided a candidate holding an M.D. Degree in Psychological Medicine (in the Faculty of Medicine) is eligible to supplicate for a Ph.D. degree in Psychology.
- Candidate for admission to the Ph.D. program shall have a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its commensurate grade “B” in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institute accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is appreciated, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accrediting or assure quality and standards of educational institutions.
- A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allotted for those belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Differently-abled and other categories of the candidate as per the choice of the Commission from time to time. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is obeyed) and the relaxation of 5% to the category specified above are allowable based only on the qualifying marks without adding the grace mark schemes.
- In the faculty of Medicine, a candidate having an M.D./ M.S. degree in the subject concerned or equivalent degree of different University recognized by this University/ having a post-graduate degree with at least 60% (55% for SC/ ST/ Differently-abled candidates) marks shall be suitable for admission to the Ph.D. program in Medicine.
Research on living authors is not permitted. - In the Faculty of Ayurveda, however, a candidate having an M.D. (Ayurveda) degree in the subject concerned or equivalent degree of another University approved by this University with at least 60% (55% for SC/ ST/ Differently-abled candidates) marks shall be accepted for admission to the Ph.D. program in Ayurveda.
