JEE Main Paper Analysis 2023 – 13th April 2023

Physics: According to student feedback, the Physics exam was generally considered to be manageable. The test covered various topics including Kinematics, Gravitation, Fluids, Heat & Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory of Gases, Rotational Motion, EM Waves, Electrostatics, Communication Systems, Magnetism, AC Circuits, Current Electricity, Error Analysis, Work Power & Energy, SHM & Waves, Modern Physics & Wave Optics. While the numerical questions were a bit lengthy, they were generally easy to solve. Overall, students felt that the exam was well-balanced.

Chemistry: As per student feedback, the Chemistry exam was relatively easy to moderate in difficulty. Inorganic and Organic Chemistry carried more weight compared to Physical Chemistry. Mathematics: Moderate. Weightage was given to chapters of Conic Sections and Calculus. Numerical-based questions were reported as easy to moderate. The physics overall section was balanced.

Chemistry: Easy. Inorganic & Organic Chemistry were asked equally and had more questions as compared to Physical Chemistry. The Numerical Section had questions from chapters like Chemical Kinetics, and Electrochemistry. There were mixed concept questions from Alcohols, Ethers & Phenols, and Aryl & Alkyl halides in Organic Chemistry. Inorganic Chemistry had questions from s-block, p-block, Chemical Bonding, Co-ordination Compounds, and Metallurgy.

Physics

According to the experts from FIITJEE, the physics paper was considered easy. The questions asked were mainly focused on kinematics, heat, and thermodynamics (with 3-4 questions), kinetic theory of gases, gravitation, rotational motion, EM waves, electrostatics, magnetism, AC circuits, current electricity, modern physics, ray optics. The numerical-based questions were not very challenging. As per the students who appeared for the exam, this section was fairly balanced.

Chemistry

The chemistry section of the exam was not too difficult and was of moderate level. In terms of weightage, Inorganic Chemistry was given more importance as compared to physical and organic chemistry. Most of the numerical-based questions in the section were from physical chemistry topics such as solutions, electrochemistry, chemical kinetics, mole concept, ionic equilibrium, and solid state. Additionally, the questions in the section were also from topics like environmental chemistry, p & d block, phenols, chemical bonding, and coordination compounds. In organic chemistry, some mixed concept questions were asked from amines, aldehydes & ketones, biomolecules, and polymers.

Mathematics

The maths section of the exam was moderately challenging. The questions in the section were from all chapters, with a greater emphasis on algebra and calculus. Mathematics – Moderate in Difficulty

Shift – 2

Physics – JEE Main Paper is Easy level. More weightage was given to chapters on kinematics, circular motion, rotational motion, laws of motion, rotational motion, SHM, gravitation, heat & thermodynamics, wave optics, current electricity, electrostatics, AC circuits, modern physics, error analysis, semi-conductors, and optics. numerical-based questions were reported as easy. It was a balanced section.

Chemistry – JEE Main Paper is  Moderate Level. Physical chemistry was given less weightage as compared to organic and inorganic chemistry. Questions asked from p-block elements, qualitative analysis, titrations, biomolecules, general organic chemistry, aldehydes and ketones, amines, chemical equilibrium, atomic structure, solutions, and chemical kinetics. MCQs were tricky compared to the numerical section. More weightage was given to Class 11 chapters.

Mathematics – JEE Main Paper is Moderately Tough. Mixed-concept questions were asked. The JEE maths questions were asked from straight lines, parabola, circles, limits, continuity and differentiability, differential equations, area, matrices, binomial theorem, probability, statistics, determinants, vectors, 3D geometry, mathematical reasoning, complex numbers, and progression series. Both MCQs and numerical-based questions required lengthy calculations. “This section was lengthy and tricky as per a few students, while some students also reported this as tough,” it said.
