GATE 2026 | Application Form, Exam Date, Eligibility: IIT Guwahati has officially announced the GATE 2026 registration schedule. The online application process will begin on 25th August 2025 onwards and continue until 25th September 2025. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can apply only through the official online portal. To register, students must first create a GATE 2026 login ID, then fill in the application form, upload the required documents, and pay the registration fee. To complete the GATE 2026 application, candidates must pay the registration fee online. The fee is Rs. 1800 for General category applicants and Rs. 900 for SC, ST, and PwD candidates. - Go to the official website of GATE, gate2026.iitr.ac.in.
- On the home screen, there will be a click on “Login”.
- Fill out the application form with all your details.
- And submit them to the office by clicking submit button.
- You will get an application number kept it save.
- Enter your Application ID in the mail ID.
- Login using the ID and submit your signature and photo in jpg format.
- Then submit the application fee according to the category.
- Download the application and save it to your smart devices.

- GATE 2026 is a computer-based test (CBT)
- The GATE exam is conducted for 30 subjects
- The sections contain General Aptitude (GA) and Candidate’s Selected Subject
- The question types will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Select Questions (MSQ), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT)
- For a wrong answer chosen in an MCQ, there will be a negative marking. For 1-mark MCQ, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. Likewise, for 2-mark MCQ, a 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.
- There is no negative marking for wrong answer(s) to MSQ and NAT question
- There is no partial marking in MSQ.
